Frosty The Snowman How To Draw
A rather simple-looking Frosty the Snowman – this lesson pays tribute, with a likeness to the one we see in the cartoon.
Using simple shapes as a framework, something to help us visualize *where the lines will go* – BEFORE we actually put them down…
May just help you to come up with a more proportional-looking drawing.
But of course – and as always…
Have tons of fun as you branch of from the 'ideas' here on this page – and go on to add/subtract/change yours however you like…
So you end up with a cool-looking drawing, that's unique to you!
Let's begin. 🙂
How to Draw a Frosty the Snowman
Very first thing then – let's go ahead and draw – a simple looking framework… something to help us visualize the character's structure, before we actually draw him.
Below, you can see how really – his shape comes down to two big shapes – an oval for the body, and a circle for the head.
Use this example – to give you some ideas, of how you'll tackle your drawing…
And next – it's up to Frosty the Snowman's head – around the cross area…
So we can sketch in the beginnings of his face – starting with his round nose, and his mouth. Looks like this…
Next step – fading what we just drew, out to grey…
Map out the top of his hat (the brim) – notice how it curves, matching the curvature in the cross lines in the framework. It's tilted, so that we can see a little bit, up and underneath it.
And the eyes. Draw them too!
OK – next…
Go ahead and begin to bring forth – the shape of Frosty the Snowman's head and body.
Notice how I'm selective with which lines I place in sequence. It's not necessary to do this, as I do recommend you keep your lines free, and flowing, and sketchy, and messy even.
Make mistakes – and always remember…
This is only a lesson – an example. It's meant to give you ideas, to improve on your own creations.
Moving forward…
Next up – sketch in four more simple, curved lines – ones that help to establish volume and weight in our character.
Amazing, such simple lines – are all it takes, when we know ahead of time… the specific pose/stance, our character is going to take on…
Moving around the drawing – with key lines in place…
In the next step – go ahead and begin to develop the other parts of Frosty – ones that 'just sort of fit into place' – since we've already mapped out key lines – ones that *suggest* and/or *foreshadow* and/or *hint* – at just where the next lines need to go.
Here's how it's looking…
So we're just about done.
Top hat. Check!
Buttons. Check!
And here is complete – black and white, minus the framework lines…
And then, with *just a touch* of color…
…our cartoon drawing of Frosty the Snowman, is complete!
…
Well, I really hope you had fun with this lesson.
Hey, how did yours turn out anyway?
Did you give him a corn-cob pipe? Button nose? Two eyes made out of coal?
Did you put a feather in his hat? Did you give him some clothes?
However you drew yours…
Awesome!
See you soon for another lesson. 🙂
